Sponza Palace in Dubrovnik

All the trade routes of the Dubrovnik Republic passed through this beautiful and luxurious palace. With its playful and peculiar beauty confirms the originality of the of Dubrovnik constructions. The courtyard of the palace was the most important rendezvous place of traders and other businessmen of the Dubrovnik Republic. In one wing of the palace was the state forge of money. It became the cultural center of the Dubrovnik Republic, meeting place for the most educated people of the city and where they discussed art, literature and all the scientific achievements of its time. The first school in Dubrovnik was organized here.
